Price push up ! ! !

Hello, I recently bid on an item, then had someone outbid me and retract, then outbid then retract, until he bid just under my max bid (bringing my bid to the maximum. Both the other buyer and the seller are completely new. I won the auction, and upon contacting the seller on this subject, I got the answer that the seller had had this problem before and that this buyer constantly "retraces" or "retracts" his bid after bidding them. Is it possible to retract your own bid (not through the seller)? What is your advise in proceeding with this issue? Thank you|||Can you confirm this is the magenta item?~ Lucy ~ Guide to eBay Board AcronymsClick on for links to Help Pages for a new eBayer|||This sounds like a case of shill bidding. The seller has had this problem before with the same buyer and they let them bid again. I don't buy it for a minute. If you want to be bold you can contact the seller and tell them that you think it may be a case of shill bidding. They might just quickly cancel your bid, and if they do you know why. Either way it is up to you whether you want to pursue this transaction. Next time bid your maximum as late as possible. This helps prevent unscrupulous sellers from artificially jacking up the price.|||I don't think it would be a good idea to contact the seller and accuse them of a Federal crime (shill bidding) OP hang on, for folk to check the actual bidding page. I think I know what I see, but as I am not an expert, I don't want to comment.~ Lucy ~ Guide to eBay Board AcronymsClick on for links to Help Pages for a new eBayer|||I was just suggesting this in case they want to rattle the seller a little.|||~ Lucy ~ Guide to eBay Board AcronymsClick on for links to Help Pages for a new eBayer|||Wow, just wow!! 30-Day Summary Total bids: 20 Items bid on: 13 Bid activity (%) with this seller: 5% Bid retractions: 113 Bid retractions (6 months): 113 Not a shill bidder but certainly a habitual retractor. The sellers HAVE to report these type of bidders so eBay can suspend them. THIS is the problem I have with the hidden i.d.'s in the bidding history. In the "old days" we could see the i.d. and anyone could report the member i.d. for too many retractions. Now it is up to the sellers. If they don't report, these violators will continue to manipulate bidding.*Listen to the music playing in your head."|||siamiri, may I suggest that in the future wait until as late as possible in the auction to bid? That way your bid has less of a chance of being manipulated in this manner. Could you contact the seller and tell them to report the retractor since the seller knows their i.d.?*Listen to the music playing in your head."|||siamiri If this were me, I would want to live chat with eBay and ask them to take a look at the bids and the retractions. As the first rep has limited authority to do anything, transferring to a supervisor is a good move. Even if this "proves to be innocent bid retractions" it sure looks like your bid was pushed up to your max. Live Chat... Explain everything in detail as if explaining to a 5 year old.*Listen to the music playing in your head."|||I didn't even know you could retract ONE bid. I'm...shocked!||||||The "buyer" retracted over a hundred bids with the same seller? Smells fishy to me.|||
