Ebay/Paypal Buyer Protection Is Lousy for Buying Tickets

I found out the hard way you should ONLY buy event tickets on Ebay if you use a credit card. Because Ebay and Paypal Buyer Protection expires 45 days after you pay for your tickets. I made the big mistake of paying using my Paypal balance. If you buy invalid tickets from a dishonest seller for an event that takes place more than 45 days from the purchase date and you cannot get into the event, you are out of luck, because Ebay or Paypal.will NOT help you. In fact, they actually protect the dishonest seller because they will NOT provide you with the seller's street address, so you cannot even go after the them for Mail Fraud (if they shipped by USPS). For extended protection beyond 45 days, you need to pay with a credit card.|||It is unwise to use a system (eBay/Paypal) without actually knowing the rules. This is one a person with 583 feedbacks should know. They are not protecting anyone. You screwed up. Perfect example of a buyer blaming everyone but themselves.|||You would hope a buyer who has over 500 feedback and been on Ebay since 2004 would know or even bother to READ the listing, which clearly tells you what your Buyer Protection is in the event of non delivery or damage. The link is on the upper right hand side of every auction "Ebay Buyer Protection Learn more" Link Ebay gives you the tools. If you choose to ignore them, they can't won't help you|||Ebay /Paypal protects the buyer for a maximum of 45 days from the date of payment. If you choose to buy something you don't get or can't use past the protection deadline, just how is that "lousy of Ebay/Paypal"?|||The seller address is not on the envelope he mailed them to you in?It may not be your fault but it is your responsibility Silver rule "do not do to others what you would not like to be done to you"|||Yes, I know Ebay and Paypal only provide protection that lasts for 45 days after you purchase the item. But what good is that protection if you won't know if the tickets are good until after the 45 day guarantee period has elapsed? A fraudulent seller can rip buyers off with impunity on Ebay by selling invalid tickets at least 45 days before the date of the event. Then the hapless buyer is out of luck when they find the tickets are invalid.. Ebay prominently displays the Ebay Buyer Protection for these tickets listings. But they will only provide protection if the buyer doesn't receive the tickets or the tickets they receive don't match the description. But for invalid tickets that are purchased 45+ days before the event, there is no protection. Stub Hub, which is an Ebay subsidiary, guarantees the validity of tickets, regardless of when the buyer bought them. Ebay should provide ticket buyers the same protection as Stub Hub.|||Ebay Buyer Protection works fine if the problem is the tickets are not delivered or if the tickets that are received do not match the description in the listing.. But a buyer won't know the tickets they received are invalid until the day of the event, and if the event takes place 45+ days after the tickets were purchased, then the buyer is out of luck. It's not the same thing as receiving a damaged item with a problem you should be able to see immediately or shortly after you receive it.|||Since you KNOW all this, why did you buy the tickets? Ebay owns Stubhub. You should have bought your tickets there. You CAN and should, take the seller to court for selling fraudulent tickets.|||Stub Hub, which is an Ebay subsidiary, guarantees the validity of tickets, regardless of when the buyer bought them. Ebay should provide ticket buyers the same protection as Stub Hub. What you can do is go to stubhub when you receive the tickets and attempt to list them for sale, just don't confirm it. Stubhub will verify that the barcode is valid.
