I'm using Windows Vista. It runs incredibly smoothly. An application corrupted part of the data on the hard drive and Vista couldn't boot up and needed reinstallation. Very rarely happens, no big deal, did that and iTunes... although I lost an authorization because iTunes isn't smart enough to realize it's the same PC, CPU, hard drive, etc. like some other programs can. Now it should be pie to just get iTunes to pull all the data from my phone and put it into the PC, just like any other sync app for any other phone. Once again, iTunes will cost me a week of time and heartache. I've about had it... this entire preoccupation with proprietary nonsense, an insane level of copy protection, sandbox folders, non-drag and drop storage must come to an end and NOW.
When I went to backup my phone, it seems that you can't tell iTunes to take the data off the phone and put it on the PC. Otherwise I have to reset up the structure with original files to match what I have in the "library." So essentially if your PC goes and you think you have your data on your phone, you're wrong? It's only one way... it seems?
But it DID yank most of my applications off the phone and they are now gone. Some are there, some aren't. Even virtually all the FREE applications are gone. I chose the option "merge" when I was going through the choices and it sure as heck didn't merge. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE???
After spending several days reorganizing dozens and dozens of apps, I have to once again figure out what I had and reorganize it painfully yet again.
